(L, D) Day 2| Sunday | Havana After breakfast, discover Havana, Cuba’s distinctive capital that has captivated travelers for decades. See El Morro Castle, the landmarks of central Havana and stroll the Malecon promenade. Next, a fascinating guided walk through Old Havana to admire the ongoing restoration transforming this UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a cocktail and lunch at the historic La Imprenta, travel from central Havana to the Muraleando art project where Cuban and international artists have used almost every available wall as canvas for hundreds of beautiful painted murals. A cocktail and dinner at Meson de la Flota. (B, L, D) Day 3 | Monday | Havana | Santa Clara After breakfast a meeting with a member of the University of Havana for a meaningful exchange on sex education in Cuba. After a cocktail and lunch at Lel Templete, drive to Cuba’s Central Villa Clara for your stay in colonial Santa Clara. After dinner at your hotel try Santa Clara’s Club Los Mejunje, known for more than two decades as the home of some of the most dynamic disco and drag scenes in the Caribbean. (B, L, D) Day 4 | Tuesday | Santa Clara After breakfast, a panoramic tour of colonial Santa Clara, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Visit the cultural house of ‘Los Piquetes’. After a cocktail and lunch at Los Caneyes, return to El Mejunje to meet its project director and to exchange views with members of the LGBT community of Santa Clara. Tonight after a cocktail and dinner at La Concha, how about an optional visit to the Museum of Decorative Arts? (B, L, D) Day 5 | Wednesday | Havana After breakfast, depart for Havana and a visit to Korimakao, a cultural community project. Cocktail and lunch at Pio Cua. After lunch, drive to Jaimanitas to visit the home, studio and community art project of Jose Rodriguez Fuster, the Cuban native artist specializing in ceramics, painting, drawing, engraving and graphic design. Cocktail and dinner at Santa Angelo. After dinner why not visit the world famous Buena Vista Social Club. (B, L, D) Day 6 | Thursday | Havana Morning meeting with the director, staff and volunteers at the Cuban Center for the Prevention of STD’s and HIV/AIDS; learn about the center’s outreach efforts including El Carrito para la Vida. Cocktails and lunch at La Barraca. After cocktails and lunch, meet with the staff and leadership of CENESEX, the National Center for sex education and research. The organization that has spearheaded the struggle for LGBT rights in Cuba. Evening at leisure. (B, L) Day 7 | Friday | Havana After breakfast, we’ve arranged for an excursion to Finca Vigia (“Lookout Farm”) in San Francisco de Paula, Ernest Hemingway’s winter home from 1939 to 1960. See the author’s 9,000 volume library, his yacht “Pilar” and the typewriter on which he wrote some of his greatest works; learn about his life here during a talk with a docent. Visit the National Union of Jurists where we meet with members of the Association of Family Law and Civil Rights for a discussion on LGBT interests and continue with them to lunch at La Torre. Afternoon, meet with members of SOCUMES (the Cuban society for multidisciplinary studies in sexuality. Tonight a Farewell-to-Cuba cocktails and dinner at the Café del Oriente. (B, L, D) Day 8 | Saturday | Havana After breakfast, transfer to Havana’s Jose Marti Airport for the short flight to Miami.
